Receiving Payments: Inbound Payments

Receiving Payments

In order to receive payments through Clubspot of any kind, you will need to Enable Inbound Payments. Even if you plan on only accepting offline payments, member number payments, or not charging any fees at all, we still require basic payments setup. It is completely free to enable inbound payments, and there are no fees until transactions are processed.

How does it work?

Clubspot has modernized the way that Clubs and Events can accept payments online. Whenever a transaction is processed via card or ACH, Clubspot will schedule the deposit into your connected bank account in real-time.

What this means is that you get the majority of your funds up front before your event ever happens rather than waiting on a check for weeks (or months) after the regatta is finished.

👍Clubspot never touches your funds, and can never see payment credentials. Under the hood, Clubspot payments are powered by Stripe, for the highest level of security.

What do I need to get started?

Inbound Payments

To open up online registration for your club or event, you'll need to head to the Account > Inbound Payments tab. If you have already provided all of the required information, you will see a message indicating that inbound payments are enabled. If more information is still required, you will see a button to Enable Inbound Payments button.

When you click to Enable Inbound Payments, you'll be taken to a form to fill in basic details about the club. Clubspot's payment provider, Stripe, is legally obligated to collect this information prior to facilitating online payments and payouts. These checks are commonly called KYC (Know your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) checks. The purpose of this verification process is to comply with federal laws intended to prevent the wrongful transfer of funds. Basically, Stripe needs to ensure that your club is a legitimate legal entity and not a bad actor!

There are a few important pieces of information that you'll be asked to provide:

  • EIN or Business Number
  • Personal details for at least one owner, officer, or club representative to satisfy online banking laws
  • Bank Account information (so we know where to pay out funds)
